蓬藟 Korean Black Raspberry
Related Crop · Korean Black Raspberry →
Bongnyu is the fruit of a trailing bramble, glossed in Korean as 'meongdeok-ttalgi'. It stands close to the bokbunja raspberry in the crop guide, yet the Donguibogam insisted the two were not one thing: bokbunja grows as a cane, bongnyu as a vine, ripening later and larger.

作藤蔓生者, 蓬藟也. 作樹條者, 覆盆也. 皆宜取子用. 覆盆早熟而形小, 蓬藟晩熟而形大. 其形大同小異, 終非一物也. 《本草》
The one that grows as a trailing vine is bongnyu; the one that forms woody canes is bokbunja. For both it is proper to take the fruit for use. Bokbunja ripens early and is small in form; bongnyu ripens late and is large. In broad outline they are alike and differ in detail, but in the end they are not one thing. 《Boncho (本草)》
HomiclubBrambles form a large and confusing group, and telling them apart has never been simple. Sorting them by whether the stems trail or stand as canes, and by early or late ripening, still works as a field guide to the group.
