性溫, 味甘酸, 無毒.
Its nature is warm, its taste sweet and sour, and it carries no toxicity.

主咽燥渴.
It mainly treats dryness of the throat and thirst.

損人肺, 不可多食.
However, it harms the lungs, so it should not be eaten in large amounts.

生南方, 八九月採實.
It grows in southern regions, and its fruit is harvested in the eighth or ninth lunar month.

有甘酸二種, 甘者可食, 酸者入藥.
There are two kinds, sweet and sour: the sweet one is for eating, while the sour one is used as medicine.

多食損齒.
Eating too much damages the teeth.

石榴, 道家謂之三尸酒, 云三尸得此果則醉也. 《本草》
Daoists call the pomegranate the wine of the three corpses, saying that the three parasitic spirits dwelling in the body become drunk when they taste this fruit. (Bencao)

It stops seminal leakage, astringes the intestines, and halts both red and white dysentery.
