Oecheongpi is the green husk around an unripe walnut, from the same tree as the hodu in the crop guide. Peeling it stains the hands deep brown, and it has long served as a dark dye. Inside the hard shell it covers sits the kernel that gets eaten.

This is simply the green husk on the fresh fruit. It dyes the beard and hair black. 《Boncho (本草)》
HomiclubThe green husk of an unripe walnut holds a pigment called juglone; peeling it barehanded stains the skin dark brown and the stain is slow to fade. In Europe the same husk has long been used to dye wood and cloth brown.
