性大寒一云冷, 味甘, 無毒.
Its nature is very cold (some say merely cool), its taste sweet, and it carries no toxicity, making it a gentle cooling fruit.

主腸胃中熱毒.
Its chief action is to clear heat-toxins lodged in the stomach and intestines.

止暴渴, 利小便, 解酒毒及酒渴.
It quells sudden thirst, promotes urination, and dispels both alcohol toxicity and the parched throat that follows drinking.

樹若橘樹, 子形似橘而圓大.
The tree resembles the tangerine tree, and its fruit looks like a tangerine but is rounder and larger.

皮色生靑熟黃赤.
The rind is green when unripe and turns golden-red as it ripens.

霜後甚甛, 故名柑子. 《本草》
After the first frost it grows markedly sweeter, which is why it is called gamja, the sweet one, as recorded in the Bencao.
