  1. 性冷一云寒

    Its nature is cold, and some texts describe it as 'han' (deeply cold).

  2. 味苦

    The taste is bitter.

  3. 微毒

    It has slight toxicity.

  4. 主補筋骨

    Its primary effect is nourishing the sinews and bones, strengthening the body's framework.

  5. 利五藏

    It benefits the five viscera (liver, heart, spleen, lung, kidney), helping them function smoothly.

  6. 開胸膈壅氣

    It opens up stagnant qi blocked in the chest and diaphragm, relieving the feeling of congestion.

  7. 通經脉

    It unblocks the meridians, the channels through which qi and blood circulate.

  8. 令人齒白聰明少睡

    It whitens the teeth, sharpens the mind, and reduces the need for sleep.

  9. 療蛇咬

    It treats snake bites.

  10. 今人菜中常食者

    It is a vegetable that people commonly eat as part of their everyday diet.

  11. 患冷人食則腹冷

    For those with a cold constitution, eating it makes the abdomen feel colder.

  12. 然不至苦損人
