Original, read line by line 東醫寶鑑 · Tangaek — Decoctions vol. 2

  1. 性溫一云平, 味辛, 微毒.

    Its nature is warm (some say neutral), its taste pungent, with slight toxicity.

  2. 消穀, 通小腸氣, 通心竅.

    It aids the digestion of grains, unblocks the qi of the small intestine, and opens the orifices of the heart.

  3. 療沙疹豌豆瘡不出.

    It treats measles and smallpox rashes that fail to surface, helping them break out properly.

  4. 生園圃中. 人多生食.

    It grows in vegetable gardens, and people commonly eat it raw.

  5. 亦是葷菜, 久食, 損人精神, 令多忘, 發腋臭.

    It is also classified as a pungent herb; prolonged consumption harms one's spirit, causes forgetfulness, and brings on body odor under the arms.

  6. 北方人避石勒諱胡, 號爲香荽. 《本草》

    Northerners, avoiding the taboo on the character hu in the name of Shi Le, called this plant xiangsui instead. (Bencao)

  7. The seeds of the coriander plant.

  8. 主小兒禿瘡及五痔.

    It is chiefly used to treat scalp sores in children and the five kinds of hemorrhoids.

  9. 療食肉中毒下血, 能發瘡疹不出. 《本草》

    It treats meat poisoning that brings on bloody stools, and can draw out rashes that fail to surface. (Bencao)
