Chajogi is an annual of the perilla group whose leaves turn purple on the underside. It is the same plant as the chajogi in the crop guide; in Japan it goes by shiso and gives pickled plums their red color. The Donguibogam set the paler, weakly scented kind apart under the name yaso.
