Mokduchae is durup, the angelica-tree shoot of the crop guide. The old Korean spelling is dulhup, and Sokbang records only that it grows everywhere and is picked in early spring. The text keeps it short: boil it for namul or pickle it, and it is good.

  1. 性平, 無毒.

    Its nature is neutral and it is non-toxic.

    HomiclubMokduchae is durup, the shoot of the angelica tree, snapped from the branch tips each spring. The old Korean name durup carried straight through to the present word.

  2. 煮作茹, 作葅食之, 佳.

    Boiled and made into a vegetable dish, or made into jeo (葅, salted pickle) and eaten, it is fine.

  3. 處處有之, 春初採之. 《俗方》

    It is found everywhere and is picked in early spring. 《Sokbang (俗方)》

    HomiclubThe season still holds: durup is taken only once or twice from a tree around April. Stripping the terminal bud again and again leaves the tree unable to grow on.
