胡麻 Sesame
Related Crop · Sesame →
Homa is black sesame seed, the same chamkkae as in the crop guide and the grain behind sesame oil and kkaesogeum. The Dongui Bogam explains the name: it arrived from the western lands, ho, and its form recalled hemp, ma. It also records handling the seed by steaming and sun-drying it nine times over.
