Original, read line by line 東醫寶鑑 · Tangaek — Decoctions vol. 3

Its nature is neutral, its taste pungent, and it has no toxicity—gentle enough for broad use.

It treats throat obstruction, sore throat, and stubborn sores—long valued for pharyngitis and malignant ulcers.

It grows on damp ground and on rotting wood, favoring moist, humus-rich spots.

It is hollow and soft like purple cotton, yielding a plush feel in the hand.

The large ones reach the size of a peck-measure, the small ones a quart—remarkably variable in size.

When tapped, a purple dust puffs out—these spores, prized in Bencao, are the medicinal part used to staunch bleeding and heal wounds.
