胡椒 Black pepper
Related Crop · Black pepper →
Hocho is black pepper, the dried fruit of the pepper vine. It is the same peppercorn found on tables today, and the text notes its use in cooking. Sun-facing berries were called hocho and shade-facing ones piljingga, and the entry carries the 【唐】 mark for goods brought in through China.
