松脂 송진 (송지)

  1. 性溫, 味苦甘一云平, 無毒.

    Pine resin is warm in nature with a bitter-sweet taste; some sources call it neutral. It is non-toxic.

  2. 安五藏, 除熱.

    It calms the five viscera and clears accumulated heat from the body.

  3. 治風痺死肌.

    It treats wind-numbness and patches of skin that have lost sensation.

  4. 主諸惡瘡, 頭瘍, 白禿, 疥瘙.

    It addresses malignant sores, head ulcers, white-patch baldness, scabies, and itching.

  5. 去死肌, 療耳聾, 牙有蛀孔.

    It removes necrotic flesh, restores lost hearing, and fills cavities eaten through by decay.

  6. 貼諸瘡, 生肌, 止痛, 殺蟲.

    Applied to wounds, it regenerates flesh, eases pain, and kills parasites.

  7. 一名松膏, 一名松肪.

    It is also called songgo (pine paste) or songbang (pine fat).

  8. 六月採, 自流出者, 勝於鑿孔及煮取脂也.

    It is gathered in June, and resin that flows out on its own is far better than what is drained from bored holes or boiled out of the wood.

  9. 以通明如熏陸香者爲勝.

    The grade prized most is the kind translucent as frankincense.

  10. 煉法, 以桑灰水或酒, 煮軟挼, 內寒水中, 數十過, 白滑則可用. 《本草》

    For preparation: simmer the resin in mulberry-ash water or wine until soft, knead it, and plunge it into cold water dozens of times; once it turns white and smooth it is fit for use. From Bencao.

  11. 又法, 用河水煮化, 投冷水中, 令兩人扯拔, 旣凝再煮, 如此三次, 再用酒煮三次, 以白如飴糖爲度.

    Another method: melt it in river water, plunge into cold water, have two people stretch and pull it, reboil once it hardens, repeat three times, then boil three more times in wine until it turns as white as malt candy.

  12. 凡用, 入石臼中, 另搗爲末, 不可曬焙.

    When used, place it alone in a stone mortar and grind it to powder; do not sun-dry or roast it.

  13. 亦不可單服, 塞實腸胃. 《入門》

    It must not be taken on its own either, since it stuffs and blocks the intestines and stomach. From Ipmun.

  14. 松實

    Songsil, the seed inside the pine cone.

  15. 性溫, 味甘, 無毒.

    Pine seeds are warm in nature, sweet in taste, and non-toxic.

  16. 主風痺虛羸, 少氣不足. 《本草》

    It treats wind-numbness, emaciation and frailty, and shortness of breath from deficient qi. From Bencao.

    Songyeop, the pine needles.

  18. 主風濕瘡.

    It treats sores arising from wind and damp.

  19. 生毛髮, 安五藏, 不飢延年. 《本草》

    It grows hair, calms the five viscera, staves off hunger, and prolongs life. From Bencao.

  20. 松節

    Songjeol, the knots of pine branches.

  21. 主百節風, 脚痺, 骨節痛.

    It addresses wind in every joint, leg numbness, and pain in the bones and joints.

  22. 釀酒療脚軟弱. 《本草》

    Brewed into wine, it relieves weakness and slackness in the legs. From Bencao.

  23. 松花

    Songhwa, pine pollen.

  24. 名松黃, 輕身療病.

    Also called songhwang, it lightens the body and cures disease.

  25. 卽花上黃粉, 勝皮葉及子. 《本草》

    It is the yellow powder collected from the blossoms, more potent than the bark, needles, or seeds. From Bencao.

  26. 松根白皮

    Songgeunbaekpi, the inner white bark of the pine root.

  27. 辟穀不飢, 益氣, 補五勞. 《本草》

    It allows one to abstain from grain without hunger, strengthens qi, and replenishes the five exhaustions. From Bencao.

  28. 松㶆音詣

    Songye. The character 㶆 is pronounced ye.

  29. 主牛馬疥瘡.

    It treats scabies and sores in oxen and horses.

  30. 燒松枝取汁也. 《本草》

    It is the liquid drawn out by burning pine branches. From Bencao.

  31. 松樹皮上綠衣

    Songsupisangnogui, the green moss on the pine bark.

  32. 名艾蒳香, 一名狼苔.

    It is called aenaphyang, also known as langtae.

  33. 合諸香燒之, 其烟不散團聚, 靑白可愛. 《本草》

    Burned together with other incenses, the smoke does not scatter but gathers into a lovely bluish-white plume. From Bencao.
