竹黃 Daenamu Madi Deongi (대나무 마디 덩이)
Jukhwang is the pale yellow lump that hardens between the joints of a bamboo cane. It forms where the stem has been injured, so it was never common, and it still reaches herb markets under the name cheonchukhwang. The Donguibogam gives it a brief entry in the wood section.

卽竹節間黃白者, 味甘.
It is precisely the yellow-white substance between the nodes of bamboo, and its taste is sweet.
HomiclubIt forms when sap pools between the nodes of a damaged or diseased bamboo and hardens there. Today it appears in herb markets under the name cheonchukhwang (天竺黃).
