大風子 Daepungja Ssi (대풍자 씨)

Daepungja is the seed of a tropical tree; the oil pressed from it is known as chaulmoogra oil. Dongui Bogam marks it 【唐】, an item that came through China. For pills the shell is taken off and the seed wrapped in paper and beaten to drive the oil out; for outside use the oil is left in.

  1. 性熱, 味甘. 主癘風, 疥癩, 瘡癬, 殺蟲.

    Its nature is hot and its taste sweet. It chiefly governs yeopung (癘風, pestilential wind), gaera (疥癩, scabies and leprous sores), and changseon (瘡癬, sores and ringworm), and it kills worms.

    HomiclubDaepungja is the seed of a tall tree that grows in Southeast Asia. The oil pressed from it is called daepungja oil, known in the West as chaulmoogra oil.

  2. 多服燥痰傷血.

    Taken in quantity it dries the phlegm and harms the blood.

  3. 入丸藥去殼, 紙槌去油. 外塗帶油. 《入門》

    For pills, strip off the shell and pound it in paper to draw out the oil. For outward application, use it with the oil still in. 《Immun (入門)》
