䈽竹葉 Wangdaennip (왕댓닙)
Geunjungnyeop is the leaf of the giant timber bamboo. Its culms are round and stiff: thick ones were made into boat poles, thin ones into flutes. Donguibogam sorted bamboo into three kinds, geunjuk, damjuk and gojuk, and ranked the first two above the third.

性寒, 味甘一云苦, 無毒. 止咳逆上氣, 除煩熱, 止消渴, 壓丹石毒.
Its nature is cold, its taste sweet - though one account calls it bitter - and it is non-toxic. It halts cough and rising qi, removes beonyeol (煩熱, vexing heat), quells sogal (消渴, wasting thirst), and suppresses the toxin of danseok (丹石, mineral elixirs).
HomiclubGeunjugyeop is the leaf of the giant timber bamboo. It is among the thickest-growing bamboos in Korea and the species that forms the bamboo groves of the southern provinces.

竹有䈽淡苦三種. 䈽竹體圓而質勁, 大者宜刺船, 細者可爲笛.
Bamboo comes in three kinds: geunjuk (䈽竹), damjuk (淡竹), and gojuk (苦竹). Geunjuk has a round body and stiff grain; the thick stems suit poling a boat and the slender ones can be made into flutes.
HomiclubHere the text sorts bamboo by thickness and grain into poles and flutes. Korean wind instruments such as the daegeum and danso are still made of bamboo, the stock chosen by thickness and by the spacing of the nodes.
