Geungyeong is the rhizome of cogon grass. The grass grows in stands on sunny banks and throws up white plumes; the rhizome is pale and jointed, faintly sweet to chew, and children once dug it up for that. It sits inside the cogon grass entry in the herb section of the Donguibogam.

    It treats cold damage and facial swelling from wind stroke, as well as wasting-thirst and yeoljung (熱中, internal heat). 《Boncho (本草)》
