南京金華酒 Namgyeonggeumhwaju (남경금화주)

Namgyeong Geumhwaju is a wine brewed in the Jinhua district of Jiangnan and brought into Korea. It belongs to the same family of southern yellow wines as the Shaoxing wine used in Chinese cooking today. The text records it as intensely sweet and apt to sit heavy when drunk freely.

  1. 味太甛, 多飮留中聚痰. 《入門》

    Its taste is exceedingly sweet, so drinking much of it lodges in the centre and gathers dam (痰, phlegm). 《Ipmun (入門)》
