狗脊 Gucheok (구척)
Gucheok takes its name from a long, many-branched rhizome shaped like a dog's spine. Pieces covered in yellow hair, called geummogucheok, were preferred; the hair was singed off, then the root tossed with liquor, steamed, and dried. The Dongui Bogam marked it 【唐】, an import from China.

HomiclubThe rhizome is clothed in soft golden hairs, hence the name geummo-gucheok, golden-haired dog spine. These hairs were singed off over a flame before use.
