垣衣 Damuhuiitgi (담우희잇기)

Wonui is the green moss that films the shaded north face of an old wall. The Korean gloss reads damuhuiitgi, moss atop the wall. Nothing here was cultivated or bought: it was scraped from where it already grew.

  1. 性冷, 味酸, 無毒.

    Its nature is cold, its taste sour, and it has no toxicity.

  2. 主黃疸心煩, 暴熱在腸胃.

    It chiefly governs jaundice with vexation in the chest, and sudden heat lodged in the intestines and stomach.

  3. 卽古墻北陰靑苔衣也. 《本草》

    This means the green moss that clings to the shaded north side of an old wall. 《Boncho (Materia Medica)》

    HomiclubMoss settles thickly on the north face of a wall because shade and damp linger there. The name itself means the 'garment' (衣) on a wall (垣).
