赤小豆 Adzuki Bean
Related Crop · Adzuki Bean →
Jeoksodu is the red adzuki bean. It is the same legume as the pat in the crop guide, the one behind red bean porridge, shaved-ice toppings, and the paste inside fish-shaped pastries. The Donguibogam lists it in the grain section under the old Korean name beulgeun pat and says to pick early-sown beans of a deep red.

Sodu by nature drives out the jinaek (津液, fluids), so it governs sugi (水氣, water qi) and is most essential in formulas for gakgi (脚氣, leg qi). It moves water, frees qi, and flushes the bi (脾, spleen); taken long it makes a person dark, thin, dry, and withered. 《Ipmun (入門)》
