Baekgukhwa is the white-flowered chrysanthemum. Stem and leaf are no different from the yellow kind, only the bloom is white — leaves like mugwort, a yellow centre. It is the flower steeped as chrysanthemum tea today, picked in the eighth or ninth month and sun-dried.

Original, read line by line 東醫寶鑑 · Tangaek — Decoctions vol. 2

  1. 莖葉都相似, 惟花白. 亦主風眩, 令頭不白.

    Its stem and leaves are alike in every way; only the flower is white. It too governs punghyeon (風眩, wind dizziness) and keeps the head from turning white.

  2. 葉大似艾葉, 莖靑根細, 花白蘂黃.

    Its leaves are about the size of mugwort leaves, its stem green and its root slender, the flower white with a yellow centre.
