  1. 性微溫, 味苦甘一云辛, 無毒.

    Its nature is slightly warm, and the taste is bitter and sweet — some say pungent — with no toxicity.

  2. 主産前後百病, 産後腹痛, 頻産血氣衰冷, 成勞羸瘦, 及金瘡癰腫.

    It treats the many disorders surrounding childbirth, postpartum abdominal pain, the weakening and chilling of blood and qi from frequent births that lead to consumptive wasting and emaciation, and is also used for cuts and abscesses.

  3. 消撲損瘀血.

    It disperses stagnant blood from bruises and blunt injuries.

  4. 生水澤中, 莖方, 葉似薄荷, 微香.

    It grows in marshes and wet places; the stem is square, the leaves resemble mint, and it carries a faint fragrance.

  5. 三月三日採苗, 陰乾. 一云, 四月五月採. 《本草》

    The young shoots are gathered on the third day of the third month and dried in the shade; some say they are picked in the fourth or fifth month. From the Bencao.

  6. 入手少陽經. 《入門》

    It enters the Hand Shaoyang (Triple Burner) channel. From the Yixue Rumen.
