Songhwa is pine pollen, also called songhwang. It is the yellow dust that drifts off pines in late spring, still used in Korea for songhwa dasik, a pressed sweet, and in cold drinks. Under this heading Dongui Bogam also gathers the white inner bark of pine roots, the sap drawn from burnt pine branches, and the bark moss called aenaphyang.
