紅豆蔲 Hongdugu (홍두구)
Hongdugu is the fruit of lesser galangal, a ginger-family plant. Its flowers come in spikes tinged faintly red, and that red is what the first character of the name records. The rhizome is filed apart under the name goryanggang, and Donguibogam marked the fruit 【唐】, an import from China.

Its nature is warm and its taste pungent, though one account calls it bitter; it is non-toxic. It governs watery diarrhoea with abdominal pain and the vomiting of sour fluid in cholera-like disorder. It resolves liquor toxin and disperses jangmu (瘴霧, miasmic fog).
HomiclubHongdugu is the fruit of galangal, a ginger-family plant. Its rhizome appears elsewhere in the book under its own name, goryanggang (高良薑), so the same plant is split across two entries, root and fruit.
