小麥苗 Somaengmyo (소맥묘)

Somaengmyo is the young sprout of wheat. The Donguibogam gives it a Korean name, the shoot of wheat just up, and has it wrung out for its juice. It is the same wheatgrass that gets pressed and drunk today.

  1. 性寒一云涼, 味辛, 無毒.

    Its nature is cold, though one account calls it cool; its taste is pungent, and it is non-toxic.

    HomiclubSomaengmyo is the young sprout of wheat — what is sold today as wheatgrass. The green blades are cut about ten days after the seed is sown.

  2. 消酒毒暴熱, 主黃疸目黃, 退膈熱, 利小腸.

    It disperses alcohol toxin and sudden heat, governs jaundice with yellowed eyes, drives off heat in the gyeok (膈, diaphragm region), and frees the small intestine.

  3. 絞取汁服之. 《本草》

    Wring it to take the juice and drink it. 《Boncho (本草)》
