Daemaek is hulled barley. It is the grain of the barley in the crop guide, and today it turns up in mixed rice, roasted barley tea, beer, and malt. The Donguibogam preferred autumn-sown barley to spring-sown and also recorded a mixture with iron filings and gallnut for dyeing a beard black.
