Original, read line by line 東醫寶鑑 · Tangaek — Decoctions vol. 2

Its nature is warm — some say cool, others say neutral. The taste is pungent and sweet, with no toxicity.

It aids digestion, clears phlegm lodged in the chest, quenches thirst, eases the joints, and disperses harmful qi from the five organs.

It treats lung wasting with blood-spitting, as well as the dry cough that comes with consumptive emaciation.

It is planted everywhere and eaten daily — a vegetable always on the table.

Nothing brings qi downward faster than this; yet long-term overuse dulls the circulation of nourishing and defensive qi, turning beard and hair white before their time.

Commonly called nabok, also called nobok. Because it can neutralize the harmful effects of barley and wheat flour, it is also named naebok. 《Bencao》

  7. On the seed — known as nabokja, the radish seed.

It treats abdominal distension and inner masses, opens the five organs, and frees both bowel and bladder.

Ground fine and taken with water, it is highly effective in expelling wind-phlegm through vomiting.

Cabbage seed is black, turnip seed a purplish red, and the two are close in size.

Only the radish seed is a yellowish red, several times larger, and not quite round — easy to tell apart at a glance. 《Bencao》
