  1. 性溫, 味辛, 無毒.

    Its nature is warm, taste pungent, and it has no toxicity, making it a safe dispersing herb.

  2. 主風頭腦痛, 面䵟.

    It treats headaches and cranial pain caused by wind pathogens, as well as dark blotches on the face.

  3. 通鼻塞涕出.

    It opens up nasal congestion and stops the running of mucus, the very reason it is favored for rhinitis.

  4. 治面腫引齒痛, 明目, 生鬚髮.

    It treats facial swelling that radiates into toothache, brightens the eyes, and promotes the growth of beard and hair.

  5. 作面脂, 生光澤.

    When made into a facial balm, it brings luster and radiance to the skin, which is why the ancients prized it as a cosmetic.

  6. 正月二月生花, 似着毛小桃子.

    It blooms in the first and second lunar months, with buds resembling small peaches wrapped in fine hairs.

  7. 色白帶紫, 當未拆時取之, 已開者劣.

    The color is white tinged with purple, and it must be gathered before the bud opens; once bloomed, its potency is inferior.

  8. 北方地寒, 二月開花, 呼爲木筆,

    In the north where the land is cold it blooms in the second month, and is called mokpil, the wood-brush, for its bud resembles a writing brush.

  9. 南方地煖, 正月開花, 呼爲迎春.

    In the south where the land is warm it blooms already in the first month, and is called yeongchun, the spring-greeter.

  10. 用時, 去心及外毛苞用之. 《本草》

    When using it, remove the inner core and the outer hairy bract before use, as the fuzz can irritate the throat and lungs. 《Bencao》
