Privacy Policy
Homiclub is a small, personally run site. We keep the amount of data we collect to a minimum, and this page explains exactly what that is.
1. What we collect
Homiclub has no membership or sign-up for readers. We do not ask for your name, phone number, or address, and we never collect them.
When you open a page, the server records the following automatically:
- IP address
- Country inferred from that address
- The page path you opened
- The referring page, if your browser sent one
- Browser and device string (user agent)
- Time of access
This is used only to count how many people read which pages and to notice abnormal traffic such as automated scrapers. We do not use it to build a profile of an individual, and we do not sell or share it.
2. Cookies
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| hc_lang | Remembers whether you chose Korean or English | 30 days |
| hc_langbar | Remembers that you dismissed the language banner | 1 year |
| hv_day | Avoids counting the same visitor repeatedly on one day | 2 days |
| PHPSESSID | Administrator sign-in session. Not issued to ordinary readers. | Until browser closes |
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking them does not prevent you from reading the site; only the language preference stops being remembered.
3. Advertising
Homiclub carries advertising through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may set their own cookies or read existing ones to serve and measure ads. That data is handled by Google, not by us, under Google’s own policies.
- Google’s explanation: How Google uses information from sites that use its services
- Turn off personalised ads: Google Ad Settings
- Opt out across many vendors at once: optout.aboutads.info · Your Online Choices
4. How long we keep it
Raw access records are deleted after 90 days. Only aggregate counts — such as “how many people read this page that day” — are kept beyond that, and those contain nothing that identifies a person.
5. What leaves this site
The site runs on our own server, and we never sell or hand over data for marketing. Two things do reach outside parties, both of them outside Korea.
| Recipient | What is sent | When | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google (AdSense) | Advertising cookies, request data | On page load | Serving and measuring ads (section 3) |
| ip-api.com | IP address | When the operator opens the stats page | Inferring country from IP |
Only IP addresses whose country is not yet known are sent to ip-api.com, at most 100 at a time. We receive the country code alone; city data is neither requested nor stored. This lookup happens when the operator views statistics, not when you visit.
Since 5 August 2026 the typefaces are served from our own server. Previously they came from Google and jsDelivr, which meant your IP reached them on every page load; that no longer happens.
6. Your rights
You may ask what is recorded about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Write to homiclub.admin@gmail.com and we will respond. Because we do not hold names or accounts for readers, identifying your own records may require the IP address and approximate time of your visit.
7. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Requests over plain http are redirected automatically, and browsers are told to use https from the outset thereafter (HSTS, applied 5 August 2026).
Administrator sign-in uses hashed passwords, and administration pages are not reachable without signing in.
The ip-api.com lookup in section 5 travels unencrypted, because that service does not offer TLS on its free tier. Only the IP address is sent, but we state this rather than hide it. We are considering replacing it with a local country database.
8. Contact
Person responsible for personal data: the operator of Homiclub.
Email: homiclub.admin@gmail.com
9. Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will post the new version here with a new effective date.
Effective from 2026-08-05.
