松脂 송진 (송지)

性溫, 味苦甘一云平, 無毒.
성온, 미고감일운평, 무독.
Pine resin is warm in nature with a bitter-sweet taste; some sources call it neutral. It is non-toxic.

安五藏, 除熱.
안오장, 제열.
It calms the five viscera and clears accumulated heat from the body.

治風痺死肌.
치풍비사기.
It treats wind-numbness and patches of skin that have lost sensation.

主諸惡瘡, 頭瘍, 白禿, 疥瘙.
주제악창, 두양, 백독, 개소.
It addresses malignant sores, head ulcers, white-patch baldness, scabies, and itching.

去死肌, 療耳聾, 牙有蛀孔.
거사기, 요이롱, 아유주공.
It removes necrotic flesh, restores lost hearing, and fills cavities eaten through by decay.

貼諸瘡, 生肌, 止痛, 殺蟲.
첩제창, 생기, 지통, 살충.
Applied to wounds, it regenerates flesh, eases pain, and kills parasites.

一名松膏, 一名松肪.
일명송고, 일명송방.
It is also called songgo (pine paste) or songbang (pine fat).

六月採, 自流出者, 勝於鑿孔及煮取脂也.
유월채, 자류출자, 승어착공급자취지야.
It is gathered in June, and resin that flows out on its own is far better than what is drained from bored holes or boiled out of the wood.

The grade prized most is the kind translucent as frankincense.

煉法, 以桑灰水或酒, 煮軟挼, 內寒水中, 數十過, 白滑則可用. 《本草》
연법, 이상회수혹주, 자연뇌, 내한수중, 수십과, 백활즉가용. 《본초》
For preparation: simmer the resin in mulberry-ash water or wine until soft, knead it, and plunge it into cold water dozens of times; once it turns white and smooth it is fit for use. From Bencao.

又法, 用河水煮化, 投冷水中, 令兩人扯拔, 旣凝再煮, 如此三次, 再用酒煮三次, 以白如飴糖爲度.
우법, 용하수자화, 투냉수중, 영양인차발, 기응재자, 여차삼차, 재용주자삼차, 이백여이당위도.
Another method: melt it in river water, plunge into cold water, have two people stretch and pull it, reboil once it hardens, repeat three times, then boil three more times in wine until it turns as white as malt candy.

凡用, 入石臼中, 另搗爲末, 不可曬焙.
범용, 입석구중, 영도위말, 불가쇄배.
When used, place it alone in a stone mortar and grind it to powder; do not sun-dry or roast it.

Songsil, the seed inside the pine cone.

Songjeol, the knots of pine branches.

It addresses wind in every joint, leg numbness, and pain in the bones and joints.

Songhwa, pine pollen.

名松黃, 輕身療病.

Also called songhwang, it lightens the body and cures disease.

It is the yellow powder collected from the blossoms, more potent than the bark, needles, or seeds. From Bencao.

Songgeunbaekpi, the inner white bark of the pine root.

Songye. The character 㶆 is pronounced ye.

It treats scabies and sores in oxen and horses.

Songsupisangnogui, the green moss on the pine bark.

It is called aenaphyang, also known as langtae.
