木賊 속새 (목적)

1. 性平, 味甘微苦, 無毒.

   성평, 미감미고, 무독.

   Its nature is neutral, its taste sweet with a slight bitterness, and it carries no toxicity, making it a mild and approachable herb.

2. 益肝膽, 明目, 退瞖膜.

   익간담, 명목, 퇴예막.

   It nourishes the liver and gallbladder, brightens the eyes, and clears away the cloudy films that veil the pupil, which is why it has long been favored for eye ailments.

3. 療腸風下血, 止血痢, 去風.

   요장풍하혈, 지혈리, 거풍.

   It treats intestinal wind with bloody stools, stops bloody dysentery, and dispels lingering wind, showing a particular knack for calming bleeding.

4. 主月水不斷, 崩中赤白.

   주월수부단, 붕중적백.

   It addresses unceasing menstrual flow as well as sudden uterine bleeding with red or white discharge, having served broadly in gynecological hemorrhage.

5. 處處有之. 去節用, 眼藥多用. 童便浸一宿, 曬乾用. 《本草》

   처처유지. 거절용, 안약다용. 동변침일숙, 쇄건용. 《본초》

   It grows everywhere; the joints are removed before use, and it is especially common in eye remedies, soaked overnight in a child's urine and sun-dried, as the Bencao records.

6. 此物發汗至易. 去節剉, 以水濕潤, 火上烘用. 《丹心》

   차물발한지이. 거절좌, 이수습윤, 화상홍용. 《단심》

   This herb induces sweating very readily, so the Danxin advises removing the joints, chopping it fine, moistening it with water, and toasting it lightly over fire to temper its action.
