白鮮 검홧불휘 (백선)

1. 性寒, 味苦醎, 無毒.

   성한, 미고함, 무독.

   Cold in nature, bitter and salty in taste, with no toxicity.

2. 治一切熱毒風, 惡風, 風瘡, 疥癬赤爛, 眉髮脫, 皮肌急.

   치일체열독풍, 악풍, 풍창, 개선적란, 미발탈, 피기급.

   It treats all kinds of heat-toxin wind, malignant wind, wind sores, scabies and tinea with red ulceration, loss of eyebrows and hair, and tightness of the skin.

3. 解熱黃, 酒黃, 急黃, 穀黃, 勞黃.

   해열황, 주황, 급황, 곡황, 노황.

   It resolves heat jaundice, alcohol jaundice, acute jaundice, food jaundice, and exhaustion jaundice.

4. 主一切風痺, 筋骨弱乏, 不可屈伸.

   주일체풍비, 근골약핍, 불가굴신.

   It governs all wind-impediment disorders and weakness of sinews and bones that prevents bending or stretching.

5. 生原野, 處處有之.

   생원야, 처처유지.

   It grows in fields and plains and is found everywhere.

6. 以其氣似羊羶, 故俗呼爲白羊鮮.

   이기기사양전, 고속호위백양선.

   Because its odor resembles the smell of sheep, it is commonly called baekyangseon, meaning white sheep-fresh.

7. 四五月採根, 陰乾. 《本草》

   사오월채근, 음건. 《본초》

   In the fourth and fifth months the root is harvested and dried in the shade. From the Bencao.
