椒葉 Chopinamu Ip (초피나무 잎)

Choyeop is the leaf of cho, the Sichuan pepper group. It is a short passage set after the entry on the fruit, splitting the leaf off as an item of its own. The text records the leaf as hot in nature and adds a single line on steaming it before use.

  1. 性熱. 治奔豚伏梁氣, 及內外腎釣痛, 幷霍亂轉筋. 蒸熨之. 《本草》

    Its nature is hot. It treats the qi of bundon (奔豚, running piglet) and bongnyang (伏梁, hidden beam), pain that pulls at the inner and outer sin (腎), and cramping from gwallan (霍亂). Steam it and apply it as a hot compress. 《Boncho (本草)》
